Melissa Ann McCarthy, born on 26 August 1970, is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer and fashion designer. She was born and brought up in Plainfield, Illinois, U.S. McCarthy born to Sandra and Michael McCarthy was raised in a Catholic family. She completed her graduation from St. Francis Academy, Joliet, Illinois.
Melissa started her career with stand-up comedy at Los Angeles and then at New York. She is the cousin of Jenny McCarthy, actress and model, and the famous basketball player Joanne McCarthy.
She appeared in the films in the late 1990s. But she received national recognition from the television series Gilmore Girls. She was nominated for BAFTA award for her role in the film Bridesmaids (2011), which was one of her biggest achievement. She also acted in The Nines (2007), The Back-up Plan (2010), Life as we know it (2010), This is 40 (2012) and The Hangover III (2013) as supporting roles.
McCarthy exchanged her vows with her long term boyfriend, Ben Falcone. They both have two daughters Vivian and Georgette (Georgie). Vivian played the character of the younger version of her mother Melissa in the movie The Boss, 2016.
Her husband Falcone also makes cameo appearances in television shows and movies starring Melissa, such as the third season of Gilmore Girls, Bridesmaids, The Heat, Tammy, Identity Thief, Spy, and The Boss.

Due to this, she ended up each day in some or the other restaurant. She was UK size 14 and her words, over her weight issues was, “seventy percent of the women in the United States is above size 14, which is technically the plus size(1). Criticism for Her Weight and Body Shaming
Celebrities can never ever run away from criticism and body shaming words by their fans, people and media around them. The paparazzi that follow them everywhere makes a keen observation about their health and size aspects. Melissa also wasn’t untouched by these criticisms. She has been fat-shamed many times in public, in social media, and by the journalists too.
Rex Reed once called her ‘hippo’ and he became the body shaming tool bag with his comments. Such ridiculous comments made her stand for her own self and she lashed back to some of those bizarre comments.

What Inspired Her for Weight Loss?
Amidst all those criticism and fat shaming comments, Melissa rocked with her transformation, showing off her slimmer figure. She looked fabulous!!! Yes, she did. But more importantly, it was her positivity and inspirational outlook that keeps her going on with the whole journey.
When she was asked about her weight loss in an interview by Refinery29, she says, “I’ll be up, I’ll be down for the rest of my life.” The actress told, “There has to be something more, there are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that.”
Melissa told Lifestyle in 2015 that, “It was my mindset that helps me drop a significant amount of weight. I truly stopped worrying about it. And I think there’s something to kinds loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely has worked.”
Lately, Melissa launched her own clothing line for the women of plus sizes. Melissa has always been into the problems of finding dresses of her size. This made her think of all those other women who must be sailing on the same boat. And viola! She launched an awesome range of clothes for the women of plus sizes.

Melissa McCarthy won the hearts of the world by appearing in a new avatar. The Gilmore Girls actress lost a whopping 75 pounds and glowed with the confidence mesmerizingly. She was size 14 and no she is not size 4 and that’s really okay if she doesn’t want to be one. But we can’t stop praising her for committing to shed those extra pounds and living for the choices of being healthy. Meal 2 – Snack
Baby carrot and hummus.

Strength Training – Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- Farmer’s walk – She just used to pick two dumbbells and perform lunges to remove thigh fat.
- Inverted pull-ups – she performed this on the smith machine to lose the upper body weight.
- Dumbbell bench press – Dumbbell exercises helped her a lot in losing overall weight. She did these 12 reps in 3 sets.
- Smith machine squats – it was best for her as it doesn’t let her have the lower back injury because of heavy size.
Cardio Training – Tuesday and Thursday
She kept up with her jogging and walking every day along with the above workouts.
Melissa’s Message to People
Melissa is funny onscreen and off-screen both. She has a different point of view for every problem in her life – yeah! Dealing with them in a funny way too and working out for the things that are important and good for your life. She is one of those intellectual celebrities who are smart, impressive and inspiring.
McCarthy like any other celeb faced the fat shaming comments and criticism of the people for which she quoted, “I’ve never felt like I needed to change… I’ve always thought, “If you want somebody different, pick somebody else.” But sure criticism can sometimes still get to me. Some things are so malicious; they knock the wind out of you.
She also says, “I embrace confidence as I am getting older, my 20’s were not exactly the most confident time of my life. In my 20’s, I used to cry about why I wasn’t thinner and prettier, but I want to add that I also use to cry about other things like: “I wish my hair would grow faster… It was a decade of tears.”
To her positivity for hatred comments, she quotes, “I feel really bad for someone who is swimming in so much hate. I just thought that someone who is in a really bad spot and I am such a happy spot. I laugh my head off every day with my husband and my kids who are mooning me and singing me songs.”
We can conclude by her words that, no matter what size you are and no matter what body type you have, you need to love yourself, you need to take care of yourself.
