Born on October 30, 1987, Ashley Graham is an American model, public speaker, and motivator. She has been the cover face of many fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and Glamour. Ashley appeared on the televisions show “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Entertainment Tonight and CBS News.” She has also appeared in many of Levi’s campaigns.
Talking about her early life, Ashley was born and raised up in Lincoln, Nebraska. Graham was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADD(1). About her family, she is the eldest among the three siblings and has two younger sisters.
Graham met Justin Ervin in a Christian church in 2009 and they both exchanged their vows in 2010. Her husband is a videographer.

She came into light after she was identified by I & I agency while shopping at Oak view mall in Omaha, Nebraska in 2000. I & I agency is one of the top modeling agency based in New York. Ashley signed a deal with Wilhelmina Models in 2001 after she attended a modeling convention. She appeared in YM magazine at her earliest.
Sally Singer made Ashley’s profile in Vogue Magazine in 2007. Criticism for her Weight and Body Shaming
Ashley Graham was criticized recently for her workout and exercise pictures for which she fired back. She said, “Understand this; I’m not doing it to “lose weight”. I just want to be fit and healthy.”
She never knew that her body toning workout would cause so much of controversy! She says, “Every time I post any workout or exercising video I get comments like, “Girl! You’ll never be skinny, so stop trying and don’t work out so hard. You need to be fat to be a model.” Also, “Why are you losing weight? It got you famous.” This was a difficult phase in the Ashley Graham Weight Loss journey.
She recently posted on Instagram, “Just for your record, I workout to Stay healthy, feel good, get rid of jet lag, clear my head, show big girls that we can move like the others, stay flexible and strong and have more energy. I don’t work out to lose weight or my cures, because I love my skin.”

Graham caused a lot of fever after starring in a campaign for a plus size clothing line for Lane Bryant back in 2010. This ad was banned from television for being too sexy for the eyes. Graham is a dedicated activist when it comes to body images.

Ashley Graham Exercise Routine
Apart from eating healthy, she exercises daily to shed extra calories and make her body toned up; this is how she flaunts her curves on the magazine’s cover. Ashley works out with her trainer Dawin Pena and does HIIT (high-intensity interval training). She performs the following exercises in intervals and different sets which are amazing belly exercises.

- Ball Smash
- Scissor Legs
Apart from these, she does strength training exercises like sledgehammer swings, planks, push-ups, barbell squats, resistance band hip thrusts, and double band sumo deadlifts.

Ashley talks about an incident that happened when she was shooting at the age of 17-18, according to her, “I was doing a group shot for a big campaign and a girl who was 2 to 4 size probably, came to me, only to ask if I actually get paid for this job. I thought “she is asking me because am fat!!” The girl is a model and she is still friendly and all nice. She must have forgotten what she said to me. But this is something I will never forget my entire life.”
Ashley happily opens about how, why and what are the hurdles young women face today. She said, “I think its wrong how a lot of women judge themselves and they judge themselves the way they look, whether it’s their skin, size, race or age, all of the things they see. Listen to me! And if you saw the woman in the mirror and you really accepted her for who she was and you started looking yourself as the role model that will change your life completely.”
She roars loud on the fact that she uses her celebrity image to preach the body positivity(2) among others, “When I sat down and took a picture of my cellulite and posted it on Instagram, there was nothing real than that. Yeah, it is there and I am not even afraid to talk about it. I am not afraid to show it. And I don’t think that other women’s should be afraid of theirs too, it’s your body completely. Love it.”
Ashley Graham is an icon, inspiration, motivation and a role model for millions of people in the world. Losing weight was totally her decision and we must respect that.
